The preparation of good packaging to protect items and avoid damage during transport is essential and the responsibility of the seller.
If the product is not properly packed (according to the indications suggested in this article and our Terms & Conditions) and suffers a breakage or damage during transport, the seller will not be entitled to any kind of compensation.
Preparing a good packaging
-
Use a cardboard box or envelope as external packaging with a minimum size of 21 cm x 15 cm. It is essential to also use suitable internal packaging to protect the product.
- If the product is rigid or may lose value if damaged, use a box as external packaging.
- If it is a flexible product, you can use an envelope or a box.
- The surface of the package should be flat so that the label is well affixed and the data on the label is visible.
- If the shipment contains several items, wrap each item separately and use dividers between them inside the package to avoid damage. If one or more fragile products are involved, remember to pack them with bubble wrap.
- We encourage you to use a wide adhesive tape of at least 5 cm to cover the edges to prevent any moisture from entering or peeling off and opening the package. Please do not use string to close the package.
- We want to respect the environment as much as possible, so we encourage you to use recycled or recyclable packaging that is in accordance with the dimensions of the product inside.
Here are some tips on how to pack items more susceptible to damage in transport:
Bicycles
- You should disassemble the handlebars, pedals and saddle, protect them with padded material (bubble wrap or foam) and secure them with cable ties to prevent any damage or loss of parts.
- We recommend finding a box for shipping bicycles in and wrapping your shipment in plastic.
Crockery / Ceramics / Porcelain / Glass
- Prepare a padded bed at the bottom of the box.
- Wrap each item individually with bubble wrap of Kraft paper.
- Fill in any gaps in the box.
- Make sure to seal the bottom tightly so it doesn’t give way under the weight of the item and allow anything to fall out and break.
- If you’re shipping an item that has glass, we recommend using tape to make a cross over the front to prevent breakages and the mirror shattering in case of damage. It’s also important to cover the mirror/glass with cardboard and to use protective packaging (blankets, sheets or bubble wrap) to keep it secure.
Furniture / Electrical appliances
- If possible, disassemble the item.
- Put small parts in a bag and attach it to the inside of the box to prevent them from getting lost.
- Protect the corners.

Electronics
- We recommend putting the item in its original box and then placing this into a new box that can hold the size of the original packaging.
Plants
- We recommend putting the base of the plant inside a plastic bag and tying the bag around the stem.
- To prevent the branches and leaves from breaking, you can roll a corrugated cardboard tube and fit it around the pot.
- Finally, place the previously wrapped pot in a box with protective material to prevent it from moving.
