If you are going to sell or buy a child car seat on Wallapop, it is important to ensure that it matches current regulations (ECE R129 / i-Size). We recommend reviewing these 5 points to verify that the car seat model meets the standard before publishing your listing or making the purchase.
At Wallapop, we have review measures in place to detect these types of listings. If you still find one that you think might not comply with current regulations, you can report it and our team will review it.
The approval label
The approval label is an orange sticker on the side or back of the car seat.
If you are a buyer and you don't see an image of the sticker in the listing, you can ask the user to upload more images.
- The car seat does not comply with current regulations if it is approved under regulations such as "ECE R44".
- The car seat might comply with regulations if it says "UN Regulation No. 129" or "R129".
Use range
You can find the ranges of use on the approval label (as shown in the previous photo) as well as in diagrams on the side of the car seat.
- It is likely that the car seat does not comply with regulations if the range of use is indicated by "Group" (Group 0+, 1, 2, 3) or in kilograms (e.g., 15-36 kg).
- The car seat might comply with regulations if the range of use is indicated in centimeters (e.g., 40-105 cm). Note: a car seat that complies with the regulations may still state a maximum weight in kg.
The color of the seat belt guides
If the car seat is installed by passing the car's seat belt through it, look at the plastic pieces that serve as guides.
- It is likely that the car seat does not comply with regulations if the guides are red or blue.
- The car seat might comply with regulations if the guides the seat belt passes through are green.
Installation stickers
Check the adhesive diagrams on the sides of the car seat that explain how to install it.
- It is possible that the car seat does not comply with regulations if the diagrams and indications for the seat belt path are in red or blue.
- The car seat might comply with regulations if the diagrams and indications for the seat belt path are in green.
The two exclusive "stamps" of the new regulation
If you find either of these two signs on the car seat, it most likely complies with current regulations:
- The i-Size logo: A square diagram showing a child sitting sideways in a car seat next to a lowercase letter "i".
- "0-15 M" label: A specific warning that prohibits placing the baby in a forward-facing position before 15 months.
